In Painting Mode

With Sandi's 50th birthday celebrations out of the way I hope to ease myself back into painting mode again soon. We enjoyed having interstate visitors to help us mark the occasion, but it's meant that my painting has taken a back seat for the duration of their stay. An added distraction has been a woodworking project I attempted to complete for a friend from Melbourne to coincide with his visit. I put the brushes down a couple of weeks ago in an effort to meet that self-imposed deadline but was unsuccessful anyway as it turned out.

I hope I can finish this one soon; it seems there's a finite amount of inspiration to draw on when a painting takes as long as this one has!

Cheers
Pete

Keep plugging away at it, Pete, splash of light on your leaves and branch are inspiring.

Pete, this one is coming along so nicely. The way you are casting the light on the leaves for instance -- is so believable and provides such depth to the entire image.

Hey Peter, I have been waiting to see how the painting is progressing. I know it is not finished, but it looks real good. Much better than the lizard painting that was inspired by this one.

Denny, Lynda and John, thanks for your comments. After a couple of weeks away from this painting it will be good to get back into the swing of things. Lots of fresh ideas so I'm very keen to get this one out of the way.

It just gets better and better..better be careful it doesn't get too photorealistic Pete!! lol

Thanks April. I won't be getting too carried away with the photo-realism and have no plans to paint marbles anytime soon!

Hi Peter! Glad to learn you will be back at this one. I've been anxiously waiting for you to post the finished piece. It really is coming along great.

Thanks Colette. I'll be the world's foremost authority on painting fig leaves when this is finished!

It looks pretty close to finished already. I can't wait to see what your next project is going to be. Good to see you back on the blogger.

Thanks Sally - it's good to be back. Feet, feathers and fig leaves and this one's done. Your latest WIP is looking great!

As for the next project, the couple of local galleries I've approached (after making NO sales from my web site) have told me that wildlife just doesn't sell. I may either have to rethink my approach or find a real job!

Better to paint your marbles than to lose them lol!!!
