Dreaming of a White Christmas

The summer heat hasn't arrived with a vengeance yet - at least not in my home town of Perth - but my workshop roof attracts the heat and turns it into a furnace. I had planned on some woodworking activity over the Christmas break, but the temperature in my workshop is several degrees warmer than it is outside and the thermometer there currently reads 43C!

As I read of winter's first snowfall in some of the the blogs I follow, I'm reminded of how different our environments are. Through reading those same blogs over the past year and exchanging comments with their keepers, however, it's also clear that people are much the same the world over, regardless of climate and physical surroundings. It's a comforting thought in many ways and contributes to the sense of community I've enjoyed since beginning my blog.

My thanks to each and every one of you whose artistic progress I'm able to share and to those of you who are kind enough to offer suggestions and encouragement where my own efforts are concerned. I've come to thoroughly enjoy the blogging experience and I look forward to a repeat performance during 2010.

My sincere best wishes to you and your loved ones over Christmas and the year beyond.

Cheers
Pete

Peter, 43c, Now that is hot. The temperature on my balcony right now reads, -20c. I will be happy to meet you halfway. We have plenty of extra snow to supply Perth with a white Christmas. Want some?

John, as much as I hate our heat, I know I wouldn't survive your winters - my acrylic paints would freeze for a start! All the best.

How interesting Peter! I had forgotten that when we are in the throes of winter, you are having your summer......and am I correct that even your winter is somewhat mild? It has been very cold here in Michigan -- wind chills in the minus numbers sometimes. I hauled my insulated coveralls (VERY attractive! haha) out of storage several weeks ago -- that becomes my chores and horse-feeding attire for the next few months.

A wonderful holiday season to you and your family. Your blog is a pleasure to read.

At a glance I thought that was you in a Santa Suit on the beach Peter!!! But 43c? Oh deary me.

Here in Ireland it is bitterly cold and it STILL WON'T SNOW!!! All we are getting is slush or ice. Baa Humbug.
On a happier note, may I say it's been a pleasure blogging with you and of course a delight getting a look in at the progress of your beautiful paintings. Hope you have a great Christmas!

thanks for the comment on my blog, Peter. It has definitely been a great year in spite of the fact I have been sidelined a little with that broken heal. Its been fun getting involved in blogs this past year and the artists and friends I have met and the ideas shared.
Your Heron is really looking nice.
Your temp seems pretty out of place compared to here. It did only drop to +2 last night and is a raging blizzard just 30 miles east of here but being protected??here in the mountains we have sun and no snow.???
God bless and have a great and proserous New Year.

AH Peter, I didn't know you lived a double life! Santa looks like he's now taking a well deserved break after the busy Christmas season. Enjoy the warm weather...it was close to-40C a few days ago but warming now to a "balmy" -25C with the windchill.
Thanks for following and commenting on my blog Peter. I wish you all the best in 2010 and look forward to read your post and follow your newest works of art.Cheers and stay cool!

Hi Colette. I'm looking forward to 2010 and the prospect of seeing you dust off and complete all those works-in-progress stashed behind your door!
